Vulnerable Children

The numbers of vulnerable children in KZN has increased dramatically since so many adults have died from HIV.   LifeLine supports vulnerable children in whatever way we can and refers children to other agencies where appropriate.

  • Training of young post-school adults to assist orphans in their area
  • Assisting in the development of food gardens, especially in schools, to ensure continuous improved nutrition
  • Assistance in accessing child support grants
  • Assistance in accessing school uniforms and school fee exemptions
  • Individual counseling and support
Sub-Project 1:  Play therapy for children exposed to grief and loss
  • Primary school orphans are assisted to discuss and express their pain in a 15 session structured process
  • An unemployed community person takes part in the process to encourage bonding with the community carer and not the facilitator to ensure sustainable care
  • Assistance in gaining resources of various kinds is given, though not a prime objective.
